It is almost summer! You know what that means? Fresh, juicy, delicious strawberries are in season! It also means we can make large batches of citrus cheesecake stuffed strawberries again.
Strawberries are great on their own but why not stuff them with cheesecake?! This makes an awesome healthier dessert for those summer cookouts. Plus, it’s so easy!
On a beautiful Saturday in October, my family and I went to an apple orchard for the second time this fall. We went earlier in the fall, I think it was early September, and most apples were not ready to be picked yet. We had to make a second trip when most apples would be ready. Let me tell you, we came home with more apples than we knew what to do with, so I decided I would try (for the first time ever) to make apple desserts. I’m not calling this apple crisp a healthy apple crisp, but a healthier apple crisp because I cannot completely eliminate butter to have a proper crisp!
By far the best frosting is cream cheese frosting. I don’t think plain white frosting should ever be used in desserts, but maybe that’s just me. This sugar-free cream cheese frosting recipe is definitely much healthier than a regular cream cheese frosting. It avoids butter and sugar!
Look at that mouthwatering cookie pie!
Some of you may know that I have a major sweet tooth. This might not be obvious since most of the recipes found here so far are not desserts. That is because making desserts, especially baking, is too much of a science for me. I just like to throw things in a pan and make good flavors!
So I decided that rather than staying away from desserts, I will test out other bloggers’ recipes and post the results and thoughts here! The goal is to learn more about how to make desserts and then eventually I may actually come up with some of my own recipes. I think this is going to turn into a whole new “Recipe Reviews” section!
First up is Chocolate Covered Katie’s cookie pie! This recipe is from Chocolate Covered Katie’s healthy dessert blog. I have been following her for about two years now and may start trying more of her recipes.
Making Halloween treats, like these pumpkin Rice Krispie treats is something new and different for me. I did not grow up with Halloween since we do not celebrate it in Russia, but I love this holiday now! It’s so much fun to see little kids all dressed up and excited!
When I first moved here, we did not live in a neighborhood so my parents never had to give out candy. I usually went trick-or-treating in a friend’s neighborhood which made it more fun anyway!
Eventually, after I was too old to go trick-or-treating, my family moved to a neighborhood so then I actually got to give out candy and see the neighborhood kids all dressed up. And now I have my own house and neighborhood. This will be my first time giving out candy in my new neighborhood. Hopefully I won’t be left with too much candy or even worse – run out of candy!
I’m not the most creative when it comes to dessert recipes, as you might notice while scrolling through the blog since most recipes are not dessert. While at home, I pretty much just stick to blending frozen fruit with Greek yogurt. But sometimes I get the urge to try something new and hope for the best.
This raspberry cheesecake dessert really worked. I think you know if something is good if, while scraping out the last drops, you wish the bowl was never-ending.
Does it seem like I was having one of those cravings for two different things eaten together? Banana bread and cookies… Well actually I was trying to create a healthier snickerdoodle but in the process discovered that I should really just give up trying to make butter-less snickerdoodles. So instead I ended up at these delicious banana bread cookies.
