Book Reviews - August and September 2018

For the past couple of years, I have been really into audiobooks. It all started with the book Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald. I loved that book, even on audio! Sometimes I don’t like an audiobook but I don’t think that I don’t like the actual book itself. It may be that I don’t like the narrator’s voice or he or she may be a boring reader (in my opinion) and that ruins the whole story. A bad narration doesn’t allow you to get into the book and I usually don’t finish those audiobooks.

This summer, I started reading more printed books and e-books because I was disappointed in a few audiobooks. I am going to share what I read or listened to and will give my book reviews. Ever since coming back from Italy, I’ve been trying to find the best crescent in Indiana. Usually, I run into bakeries with doughnuts more than anything else. I do not like doughnuts, so that doesn’t help me. Anyway, “On My Radar” is a new post type where I will share things I am currently interested in, new things I’m trying, things that could turn into full blog posts in the future, and more things like that. It is a less formal post, not that my blog posts are formal in any way, but I think it will be fun to share.

I would say that more than half of the people at my office eat lunch at their desks while working. They might go grab some food and then come back and eat it at their desks. I am one of those people, too. At least, I was one of those people until I started leaving work for lunch. I have worked for this company for almost 5 years so far and just now started to feel the need to take a break in the middle of the day.

How to Eat Healthy When I Don’t Have Time to Cook

My life has been crazy busy lately with my work schedule and wedding planning and I have not been able to work on the blog as much as I would like. I thought this would be a great opportunity to share how I eat healthy when I don’t have time to cook whenever I would like. I’m going to share what my routine has been like the past couple of months and how I have stayed on track without the extra time to whip up creative, healthy dishes.

One thing to note is that I do NOT miss out on unhealthy food splurging. There have been multiple birthdays or other celebrations and other weekly unhealthy lunches and/or dinners. I try to eat healthy 75 – 80% of the time and it has been working for me. (Side note, I have also been exercising about 3 – 4 days per week because I have a sedentary job and I need to get up and move at some point.)

Eating healthy doesn’t have to be creative. If time permits, it helps to be creative so eating healthy doesn’t get boring and bland over time, but that’s not always possible. I’m going to share my breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert go-to options. This is what I’ve been doing to make sure I fit into my wedding dress in May!
