Honeymoon in Scandinavia

Honeymoon in Scandinavia

This blog post about our honeymoon in Scandinavia was a long time coming. I think I’ve been intimidated to write it because I was going to have to go through 1,000 photos from this trip and pick out a few to share here. And I also have to condense two weeks worth of activities into some highlights from the trip. But I’ve finally done it. It’s not easy summarizing a two week, three country trip into one blog post!

In 2016, Travis and I got married. Our original honeymoon plans were to go to the Greek islands. That plan fell through because of political reasons on that side of the world at the time. That’s actually why we went to Greece, Turkey, and Italy a couple of years later. Even though we needed to change our plans for our honeymoon, we still wanted to go out of the country – that wasn’t a question. We landed on a trip to Scandinavia, which included Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Way different than a trip to the beaches of Greece!

Weekend Trip to Bardstown, Kentucky

Weekend Trip to Bardstown Kentucky

I’m not a whiskey or bourbon person. Even so, I didn’t hesitate to get excited when my in-laws invited my husband and me to go on a weekend trip to Bardstown, Kentucky. If you don’t know, Bardstown is home to the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. There are several distilleries in and around Bardstown.

Even though I don’t like drinking whiskey or bourbon (or scotch or brandy, etc), I still enjoy learning about the process and seeing the distilleries. Usually the grounds and buildings are really pretty and sometimes they are just very interesting.

While there, we also went to a couple of local wineries. I think those wineries were very small because it didn’t seem like the wine was sold anywhere other than at the wineries themselves. This wasn’t like Michigan or Napa wineries, which made them very unique.

The Most Dangerous Situation I’ve Been In While Traveling

The Most Dangerous Situation I've Been In While Traveling

If you know my husband’s and my stories from Greece, you may think the most dangerous situation was when our rental car’s brakes stopped working while we were driving on the edge of a cliff on a Greek island… But that isn’t what I’m writing about here.

I’m talking about one of the only times I’ve been out of the country without my husband – traveling with my friend, another female. It was a girls trip to the beach in the Dominican Republic, just the two of us.

Weekend Trip to Michigan – Baroda, St. Joseph, South Haven

August 27, 2019 by Kate 4 Comments
Weekend Trip to Michigan

In early August, I went to my first winery in Michigan during a family weekend trip to Michigan. It was with my husband and his parents. Actually, we went to five wineries! I’ve had Michigan wine plenty of times and have always liked it but haven’t made it to the state to actually go to the wineries, until this summer.

We did more than just go to wineries though. We also had delicious ice cream, walked around to shops, went to the beach, found a concert on the beach, had great pizza, and more.
