On My Radar - October 2018

Can you believe it’s almost Halloween, which means it’s almost November?! Halloween is definitely on my radar at the moment. I can’t believe how fast fall is flying by. I’ve actually made good progress in getting everyone gifts for Christmas, so I feel good about that. It’s not fun to stress about gifts in November and December. I wish holiday gifts didn’t give me so much stress, because that’s not really what holidays are all about, but I also don’t like giving terrible gifts. I like to see people excited after they open my gift to them. Can’t say I always succeed in that, but I try.

This month, I have a lot of new-to-me shows On My Radar. I’ve been watching these for the past couple of months and can’t wait for more seasons!

On My Radar - October 2018

One | Big Little Lies

Big Little Lies is a show on HBO with Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley. It’s been on my “to watch” list but I haven’t been able to watch it because it’s on HBO (and we don’t have HBO). Well, after going to Reese’s Whiskey in a Teacup book tour, I had to find a way to watch the show! I found that I could get a free month of HBO with HBO NOW, so I signed up and watched the whole season in about a week. It’s not hard since there are only 7 episodes. Now just patiently waiting for season 2!

Two | The Handmaid’s Tale

I wasn’t sure about this show until I heard people raving about it. Some scenes are disturbing to watch, actually, a lot of scenes are disturbing because it would be insane if it happened in real life, but the show is awesome!

Three | Ozark

Ozark is a show about a financial adviser who moved his family to the Ozarks to launder $500 million for a Mexican drug lord. It might sound like a show or movie you’ve already seen, but it’s not! I started watching this on a whim after I ran out of shows to watch on Netflix and I got hooked from the first episode!

Four | Bad on Paper Podcast

I discovered this podcast randomly after I randomly started following a blogger, Grace Atwood, because of her consistent book recommendations. She and her friend, Becca Freeman, started a book club and a podcast to go with it, called Bad on Paper. From what I gather, they named it that because they like to read “bad books.” “Bad” meaning guilty pleasure and YA books.

The podcast is awesome! For every other episode, they like to give advice to listeners who sent them questions. Then, during the other episodes, they talk about the books they selected and read for the podcast. I listened to all the episodes back to back to catch up and now I have to wait a week for each new episode.

Five | Beauty Advent Calendars

kiehls advent calendarI had no idea that there were Advent calendars that weren’t chocolate! I recently discovered beauty Advent calendars and felt like I had to get one for the fun of it.

They can include skincare products, body products, makeup, and even nail polish. I ended up going for this Kiehl’s Advent calendar because I have been wanting to try Kiehl’s products. Their products are pretty expensive, so I thought this would be a perfect way to try 24 different items before committing to a full-size product.
