Ever since coming back from Italy, I’ve been trying to find the best crescent in Indiana. Usually, I run into bakeries with doughnuts more than anything else. I do not like doughnuts, so that doesn’t help me. Anyway, “On My Radar” is a new post type where I will share things I am currently interested in, new things I’m trying, things that could turn into full blog posts in the future, and more things like that. It is a less formal post, not that my blog posts are formal in any way, but I think it will be fun to share.

First | A Simple Favor
I have been waiting for this movie to come out since this past spring when Blake Lively started promoting it. My interest in it grew when Blake deleted every picture on her Instagram account and everyone she followed. Then, she changed her bio to say “What happened to Emily?” and she started following every account that was under the name Emily Nelson, which is the name of the character in the movie.
The movie is, as Vanity Fair put it, “truly bonkers.” Don’t read that Vanity Fair article unless you’ve seen the movie because it has major spoilers. This movie has so many twists and turns, there’s gotta be at least one thing that will surprise you.
Second | The SELF Journal
You might already know that I like paper planners. I was looking for a new type of planner recently and came across the SELF Journal. I’ve been loving it, so I will probably do a full blog post on this later on. Basically, it is a planner, journal, and goal-achieving tool. One journal covers 13 weeks, or 3 months, so you do have to use multiple throughout an entire year. It has an hourly section every day, which is great for time blocking. There are also gratitude sections and a section for wins and lessons learned for every day, which is why I call this a journal as well as a planner. I’ll go into more detail later but you can check out the journal here.
Third | Book of the Month
This summer, I have gotten back into reading books. I have been listening to audiobooks for a couple years now because I can listen to them while I work, cook, wash the dishes, do the laundry, you get the picture. I got to the point where I had listened to almost everything that interested me in my local library’s audiobook selection that was available to check out. Then, I found an affordable audio and e-book subscription service called Scribd. But I noticed that if I didn’t like the narrator’s voice or their voice was really boring, I ended up hating the book. I hated that because it wasn’t the book’s fault – it was just the narrator. If I read the book, I may actually love it. So, I started to actually read more.
I have to make time for reading every day but it’s important to me, so I make sure to read every day. I had been following Book of the Month book picks for a few months to get ideas for new audiobooks, but I decided maybe it was time to sign up for it and actually get paper books every month. Every month, they have judges that select five books and you get to pick one of those five books. It’s only $14.99 and the books seem to always be new releases, so it’s a good deal! New releases usually cost way more than that, especially hardcover books.
Fourth | Stitch Fix
It’s fall, or almost fall, and my fall wardrobe could really use an update. I had updated my spring and summer wardrobe a little bit this year and thinking about going through the same process for fall is not getting me excited. So, I decided to sign up for Stitch Fix. I have never tried it before, so we’ll see how it goes. I signed up once before and then chickened out and canceled the Fix before they could put one together. I hope to have good news later on!
When I heard about Reese Witherspoon’s book Whiskey in a Teacup and that she would be coming to Louisville, KY on her book tour (which is a short drive for me), I HAD to make sure I go. I love her as an actress. I also have been following her Hello Sunshine book club picks, which have been great. She seems to be a very positive, happy person and I would love to see her in person. So excited for this!
What’s getting you excited these days? Tell me in the comments!
