What I Read in June 2019

Another month, another list of books – what I read in June. Almost all were 5 star reads for me! These monthly posts for books are adding up – the months go by so fast!

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

Rating: 5 / 5 stars

I’m definitely reading this years after publication, but better late than never! I haven’t seen the movie and the book hadn’t been spoiled by anyone, so I only knew I wanted to read this because everyone STILL talks about this thriller YEARS later.

This book was definitely a page turner. I did not want to put it down! The details in the book were so intertwined… the author did an amazing job!

Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between) by Lauren Graham

Rating: 4 / 5 stars

I listened to this on audio. As the title suggests, it is about filming Gilmore Girls. I enjoyed listening and would recommend if you are/were a Gilmore Girls fan, especially since Lauren Graham narrates it herself.

The Idea of You by Robinne Lee

Rating: 5 / 5 stars

This is a romance book but it’s different from your typical romance books. It was not predictable, like all the standard romance books. The ending broke me. I had to make myself not think about it. You have to read it to know what I’m talking about.

Miracle Creek by Angie Kim

Rating: 5 / 5 stars

I was hooked from page 1. This book kept me guessing the whole time. I don’t try to guess things too hard because I don’t want to be disappointed from lack of surprise, but it still happens and I did not guess correctly! There were so many “what ifs” – it was a fun read, even if the topic wouldn’t be considered “fun.”

This was my first “courtroom drama” book and I REALLY liked it! I think the fact that I was on a jury last year helped me visualize the whole setting and process much better. I need to read more of these types!
